Future Woodlands Scotland

Welcoming new Trustees and new Chair

We’re excited to announce some important changes to our Board of Trustees that will help us continue to drive the charity’s mission to transform Scotland’s rural and urban landscapes.

New Trustees Join the Board

Paulina McPadden, Alastair Seaman, and Naomi Spiro bring their expertise and passion to help us achieve our mission.

Paulina said: “I’m excited to join Future Woodlands Scotland and help protect and enhance our native woodlands. The natural environment is inseparable from the human world, contributing to our health, wellbeing and progress and trees are an essential part of this. They clean our air, cool our cities, support biodiversity, and improve our mental health. I’m thrilled to be able to play a part in this transformational journey.”

Alastair Seaman added: “Future Woodlands Scotland is leading some important and exciting work for nature in Scotland. I look forward to supporting the team and learning from them.”

New Chair for the Board

After 10 years as Chair, Tim Hall is stepping down. Dave McCall, who has served as a Trustee since 2023, will take on the role. Dave brings valuable experience in management and governance.

He said: “I’m proud to be the Chair of Future Woodlands Scotland and to support our team in making a positive impact on Scotland’s landscapes.”

After 12 years with the charity, founding trustee Lynne Staples-Scott is also stepping down. Her leadership has been key to our progress and success over the years.

Looking forward, our CEO Shireen Chambers said: “We are grateful to all our Trustees who bring their unique skills that helps guide our charity.

“It’s been a fantastic year and we have exciting plans for the future, from restoring ancient woodlands to expanding urban forestry and supporting conservation research.”
