What we are currently funding and how to apply.

Our funds focus on ancient woodland restoration, urban forestry and research and innovation.

Urban Forestry Challenge Fund

Amount: up to £100,000

Deadline: 15 November, 2024

Aim of the fund: To deliver more trees and green spaces in urban neighbourhoods and, in turn, are expected to support biodiversity, education, community involvement and green job creation.

Who we want to support: Community groups, state funded educational institutions, charities, community interest companies, development trusts, local authorities or partnerships made up of these organisations.

Research and Innovation Fund

Amount: up to £10,000

Deadline: 5pm, Wednesday 26 February, 2024

Aim of the fund: To support research and innovative thinking in the development and understanding of native woodlands and their impact on climate change and biodiversity.

Who we want to support: Environmental organisations, academic institutions, community groups, individuals and policy makers.

Ghost Woodlands Fund

Deadline: Rolling application cycle.

Aim of the fund: To help recover Scotland’s most precious ancient woodlands.

Who we want to support: Farmers, crofters, land managers and land owners.

How to apply: If you think you have a ghost woodland on your land, please email Kieran Leigh-Moy.
