Future Woodlands Scotland seeks new Chief Executive

Are you a visionary leader who can help shape the next stage of our work to protect, create and restore Scotland’s woodlands?

We are looking for our next Chief Executive, someone who can lead the charity into an exciting period of growth and change.

Shireen Chambers, who joined us in 2022 as our first Chief Executive, will be stepping down later this year. Since then, she has led the charity with wisdom, clarity and deep integrity. Under her guidance, we have strengthened our relationships, expanded our programme work, and developed a clear organisational purpose.

During her tenure, our work has reached more places and more people across Scotland. We have supported woodland skills, restored threatened habitats, and brought trees into towns, cities and communities.

Our Chair, Dave McCall, said:

“This is a pivotal moment for Future Woodlands Scotland as we begin the search for our next Chief Executive. We are immensely grateful to Shireen, whose leadership has grown the charity with energy and vision. She has built a strong, dedicated team and expanded our programmes to reach from the remote hills of the Highlands to the heart of our cities.

“We are now looking for an inspiring leader who can build on this success and drive forward our five strategic priorities: developing woodland skills, championing resilient forestry, restoring threatened woodlands, planting more trees in our towns and cities, and expanding knowledge and awareness of native woodlands.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who shares our values and who is passionate about the role trees and woodlands can play in making a real and lasting difference for people and wildlife.”
