Future Woodlands Scotland

A warm welcome to our two new Trustees

We’re delighted to welcome two new Trustees to Future Woodlands Scotland’s Board as we continue our mission to help Scotland become a country in which trees and native woodlands are thriving for our wildlife, communities and climate.

Celia Brady
Trustee Celia Brady

Celia Brady, Head of Development at the Royal Zoological Society, Scotland, joins our Board alongside Dave McCall, an operational global business leader with more than 30 years’ experience.

Celia brings a wealth of experience in fundraising, marketing and communications for a range of Scottish and national charities, mainly in the environmental sector.  One of her recent successes is a fundraising campaign for Saving Wildcats, a new Conservation Breeding for Release Centre at Highland Wildlife Park.

Commenting on her appointment, Celia said:

“The role of Trustee offers the ideal opportunity for me to share the fundraising knowledge and strategic planning skills I have gained throughout my career in the conservation and environmental sector. I am very inspired by Future Woodlands Scotland’s approach to creating and conserving Scotland’s native woodlands and it is an exciting time to be joining the board.”

Trustee Dave McCall

Dave McCall joins the Board after a successful career in business, bringing with him over 30 years’ leadership and strategy experience, working for companies including GE Digital and eBay.

Dave said: “As someone who cares about the great outdoors, I am pleased to be actively involved in Future Woodlands Scotland. I believe in its holistic vision of delivering the benefits of trees and native woodlands through research, education, upskilling and ultimately reforesting our urban and rural landscapes.”

Expertise and insights

Dave and Celia were appointed to the Board by our existing six Trustees for their expertise and insights. Dave and Celia will attend their first Board meeting this month.

Our Board of Trustees is chaired by Tim Hall, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Foresters , with more than 30 years of experience in the native woodland and urban forestry sector. He is supported by Vice Chair Charlie Taylor, former Strategic Planning Manager for Forestry and Land Scotland.

All our eight Trustees volunteer their variety of skills and experience from public, private and third sectors and include a chartered accountant, a chartered environmentalist and two chartered foresters.

Tim said: “We are delighted to welcome these two new Trustees who together with Charlie’s appointment of Vice Chair, will further strengthen our Board as we enter an exciting period for the charity and turn our ambitious five-year strategy into action.”
