Two new trustees join Future Woodlands Scotland Board

Future Woodlands Scotland is delighted to welcome two new trustees, Tom Thayer and Claire Guerin, to our Board of Trustees.

They join us as we continue to grow our impact across Scotland. The appointments bring additional expertise and perspective to the charity’s governance, supporting our mission to restore and expand woodlands from urban environments to rural landscapes.

Claire Guerin

Claire is an Environment Programme Manager at Forestry and Land Scotland. She currently leads national delivery of peatland and temperate rainforest restoration programmes, driving progress towards the Scottish Government’s Biodiversity Strategy Delivery Plan and Climate Change Plan targets.

Claire said:

“I’m really excited to contribute my knowledge and experience to the development of Future Woodlands Scotland’s programmes, supporting work that delivers real impact for woodlands, communities and climate.”

Tom Thayer

Tom, a Social Performance and Partnerships leader at bp, is focused on delivering meaningful community impact through strategic partnerships, engagement and social investment

Tom said: “Being appointed as a Trustee for Future Woodlands Scotland is a privilege. It’s an opportunity to contribute to something I care deeply about – ensuring strong stewardship and thoughtful investment so Scotland’s woodlands deliver enduring benefits for communities and nature. Having seen the impact of place-based partnerships, I’m motivated to help drive lasting, positive change.”

Guiding the organisation through its next exciting chapter

Welcoming the new appointments, Dave McCall our Chair of Board of Trustees said:

“I’m very pleased to welcome our two new trustees to Future Woodlands Scotland. A strong board brings together people who can offer different perspectives, ask challenging questions and provide the oversight needed to help an organisation achieve its ambitions.

“The experience, energy and commitment our new trustees bring will strengthen our governance and support our work as we continue to grow. I look forward to working with Claire and Tom as we help guide Future Woodlands Scotland through its next exciting chapter.”
